The fire service can be challenging, as well as rewarding. I believe that no matter how long you are a member (and I have been a member since 1968), you can never say, "I have seen it all!" While many alarms are routine, eventually you use your training and skills to cope with a situation that you have not encountered before.

Halesite's Members Train on Vehicle Extrication

Monday, June 13, 2011

Over 20 members of the Halesite Fire Department turned out last Sunday, June 12th, to drill on vehicle extrication techniques. Members worked with numerous tools including the Hurst "Jaws of Life" to gain entry to a car in a simulated motor vehicle accident. A Halesite firefighter is pictured at right using a Hurst tool to "pop" a door during the drill.
