Halesite Trains on New PETZL Bail Out System

Twenty members of the Halesite Fire Department trained on the new PETZL bail out system at Huntington Manor Fire Department's Station #3 today. Members trained for seven hours on Sunday and practiced different bail out techniques a total of ten separate times. This involved hooking up inside a simulated structure two floors high and "bailing out" head first.

PETZL, in cooperation with the FDNY, developed this system to provide firefighters with a state-of-the-art bail out device that is capable of rapid deployment under severe conditions. The PETZL system utlizes sophisticated climbing gear that has been specially modified for the fire service.
