Halesite Participates in Mass Casualty Incident Drill

Monday, September 19, 2011

Thirteen members of the Halesite Fire Department joined neighboring agencies in a mock Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill yesterday in Huntington Station.

The scenario involved a fire and injured passengers on the Long Island Railroad. It brought together several fire departments from around the Town of Huntington including Commack, Huntington, Huntington Manor and Halesite. The scene was under the command of Huntington Manor 1st Assistant Chief Fred Steenson, Jr. The rescue response was coordinated through the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. In addition to practicing the response for an MCI, the drill also focused on inter-agency communication and coordination with outside organizations such as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

Halesite contributed members to both the fire and rescue response under the command of 1st Assistant Chief Dan McConnell and 2nd Assistant Chief Greg Colonna.
