2009 National Fire Prevention Week: 10/4 - 10/10
Monday, September 28, 2009
Halesite Fire Department is pleased to support the 2009 National Fire Prevention Week.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Fire Prevention Week has occurred each October since 1922. In 2009, this week will take place from October 4th - October 10th and focus on preventing painful burns while keeping homes safe from the leading causes of fire.
According to 1st Assistant Chief Andy Magerle, "Fire Prevention Week is the kick-off to our department's annual safety and fire prevention campaign. Although safety and fire prevention are priorities of the Halesite Fire Department all year round, Fire Prevention Week gives us the opportunity to join with fellow firefighters, teachers and community leaders to draw focus on these efforts in a meaningful way."
Reinforcing the key messages communicated during National Fire Prevention Week will be Halesite Fire Department's annual Open House on Friday, October 16th at 7:00 pm. Live demonstrations and safety instructions will be provided to all who attend.
