Halesite Supports Harbor Boat Parade
Friday, November 25, 2011
Members of the Halesite Fire Department lent their support to the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society this evening during its 2nd annual Huntington Harbor Parade of Lights.
Coffee, hot chocolate and popcorn were sold by Halesite's members at the rear of the firehouse. Halesite arranged for an early visit by St. Nick himself to help encourage donations from the more than 200 visitors to the park behind the firehouse. Halesite also arranged for members of the Huntington Choral Society to perform as well as a brass ensemble from Huntington High School.
Pictured at right are members from the Halesite Fire Department who sold light refreshments during this year's 2011 Harbor Boat Parade. In the top row from left to right are Stephen Medici, Carolyn Corkett, Brad Gaito and Bill Brower. In the front row are Sarah Smith, Lucy Oppenheim and Jason Oppenheim. Members involved who are not pictured include Hank Waldron, Kevin Kelly, Wayne Jeno, Ryan Pavelka and 1st Assistant Chief Dan McConnell. The members were organized by Hook & Ladder Company member and Department Assistant Secretary, Kate Kuntz.
All proceeds from the fund raising will be directed to the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society and assist in their effort to raise $300,000 for numerous repairs needed to keep the lighthouse operational.
