Annual Open House a Success

Friday, October 16, 2009

The Halesite Fire Department held its annual Open House on October 16, 2009. The event, organized by firefighter Eric Weber, was a resounding success with over 100 attendees from around the community.

Members of the fire department put on several safety demonstrations ranging from tips to safely deal with grease and oven fires to recommendations on how to escape from a smoke filled residence. Joining the fire department this year were local Cub Scouts from Pack 181 who displayed posters on how to prepare for emergencies like hurricanes and severe snow storms. Also on hand were representatives from the Suffolk County Police Department and Halesite Fire Department's own Ladies Auxiliary. The ladies provided attendees with snacks and light refreshments.
