The fire service can be challenging, as well as rewarding. I believe that no matter how long you are a member (and I have been a member since 1968), you can never say, "I have seen it all!" While many alarms are routine, eventually you use your training and skills to cope with a situation that you have not encountered before.

Halesite Marches in the 2012 St. Patrick's Day Parade

Monday, March 12, 2012

Chief Andy Magerle led Halesite's contingent to the 2012 St. Patrick's Day Parade yesterday in Huntington. A total of 47 members participated in the parade--one of the largest turnouts by Halesite in many years. The Department's ranks were bolstered by 8 new members from its 2011 recruiting class, one of the largest in decades.

Following the parade Halesite joined friends and family back at fire headquarters for a traditional corned beef and cabbage meal prepared by one of its members, Jesse Sammis. Nearly 200 people enjoyed the meal along with Irish music and the wonderful view of Huntington Harbor during the warm, sunny afternoon.
