Sunday, March 25, 2012

Halesite was one of six fire departments called by Chief Ken Cochrane of the Huntington Fire Department to assist in battling a residential structure fire deep inside Lloyd Harbor yesterday. The fire, which was called in around 3:45 pm, occured on Hawk Drive and was visible from many directions around Huntington Harbor.

Halesite supplied one engine and one ladder to the scene. A total of 12 Halesite firefighters under the command of Chief Andy Magerle joined forces with over 70 others from around Huntington Township to extinguish the fire as well as put out smaller fires in nearby structures and brush that were set by flying embers. Halesite reported no injuries and was back in service by 10:00 pm.
