Mike Conforti Honored as Halesite Fire Department's Rookie of the Year for 2011

The Halesite Fire Department is pleased to announce that Hose Rescue Company member Mike Conforti was named 2011 Rookie of the Year during its annual Inspection Dinner at the Harbor Club on May 5, 2012.

In announcing the award, 1st Assistant Chief Dan McConnell noted that, "This years recipient only just joined the fire department in mid-October of 2010. During 2011 he had a stand-out year - responding to 57% of all fire calls and 45% of all rescues. In total our Rookie of the Year logged over 480 hours in Halesite in 2011 and achieved the Departments Silver Award." 1st Assistant Chief McConnell added, "What makes this even more remarkable is that Mike did this while completing fire school and starting the Basic EMT Class."

The Rookie of the Year award is given out to a new member who demonstrates early on great dedication and commitment to the Halesite Fire Department.
