Halesite Holds 2012 Memorial Day Services

Members of the Halesite Fire Department participated in a variety of services this past weekend to commemorate Memorial Day, 2012.
On Saturday, May 26th, members paid their respects to former department members in local cemeteries around the area. On Monday, May 28th, Halesite marched in the annual Memorial Day Parade.
A short memorial service was held immediately following the parade at the Halesite Fire Department. Wreaths were placed at Halesite's Memorial Rock by Lifetime member and Ex-Chief Bill Kaiser, Chief Andy Magerle and Bob Waring, Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. Department Chaplain Nick Berghela paid tribute to our former members, especially Ex-Chief and 93-year member John "Butch" Newell, Jr. who passed away in the spring.
Following the services, Halesite's members and their families enjoyed each other's company at a barbeque at the rear of fire headquarters.
