Halesite Takes Delivery of New Mini-Pumper
Monday, July 9, 2012
The Halesite Fire Department took delivery last week of a new mini-pumper manufactured by Ferrara. The apparatus, which will be known as 222, has a 500 gallon tank and can pump up to 1,000 gallons per minute. The truck was designed to be smaller than Halesite's traditional Class A pumpers so it can more effectively navigate tighter driveways, narrow streets and inclement weather. 222, photographed on Halesite's ramp at right, will also respond to car accidents, brush fires and carbon monoxide calls.
The truck committee was led by Chief Andy Magerle and included Ex-Chiefs Mike Magerle, Kurt Martin and Frank Grasso as well as Captain Jamie Magerle and Ex-Captain Bill Eletto.
While 222 is being outfitted with new equipment it will take a short trip to the Baltimore, Maryland Convention Center where it will be on display from July 19 - 21 at the annual Fire Expo.
