2012 is Record Year for Alarms

The Halesite Fire Department responded to 691 calls in 2012, making it the busiest year on record.
There were a total of 319 fire calls, up from 2011's 276, and 372 rescue alarms, which was also an increase from 2011s 346. Hurricane Sandy was the major factor in the increase of call volume for last year with the Department responding to 142 incidents in just a nine day period that comprised both Sandy and the ensuing Noreaster.
