Halesite Fire Department Elects New Chief

The Halesite Fire Department elected Andy Magerle Chief of Department on December 3, 2009. Prior to the election Andy had been 1st Assistant Chief. Andy succeeds Kurt Martin, who served as Chief since December of 2006. Andy has the distinction of being among a handful of families within Halesite to have more than one person serve as Chief of Department. Andy's father, Pete H. Magerle, was Chief in 1975 - 1976. His brother, Peter E. Magerle, was Chief from 1990 - 1991.
The department election also saw the election of Greg Colonna to 2nd Assistant Chief and Dan McConnell to 1st Assistant Chief. Prior to their election, Greg and Dan were Captain of the Engine Company and 2nd Assistant Chief respectively.
Below are the Halesite Fire Department's Officers as of the December 3rd 2009 election:
Chief - Andy Magerle
1st Assistant Chief - Dan McConnell
2nd Assistant Chief - Greg Colonna
Treasurer - Roger Ketcham
Secretary - Robert Wilbur
Asst. Secretary - Jen Pavelka
Sergeant-at-Arms - Bob Wenk
Chairman, Board of Trustees - Dennis C. Magerle
Each department office holder serves for a one year term. The Chief's position cannot be held for longer than three consecutive one year terms.
