Ex-Chief Andy Magerle Appointed Halesite Commissioner
Thursday, March 14, 2013
Halesite's most recent Ex-Chief, Andy Magerle, was appointed Commissioner of the Halesite Fire District this past Wednesday, March 13th. Commissioner Magerle, photgraphed at right, will serve until December 2013 when a special election is held to fill the position vacated by Vincent Capobianco last month.
Commissioner Magerle has nearly 22 years in the Halesite Fire Department. He served as Chief from December 2009 - December 2012. During his tenure he oversaw major changes in the Department as well as its busiest year ever, 2012. Through his leadership Halesite had the most successful recruitment and outreach campaign in the Department's history. He also led the committee that purchased the Department's newest apparatus, 222, a four-wheel drive mini-pumper that was instrumental in Halesite's response during Superstorm Sandy and this year's blizzard.
Commissioner Magerle joins Bob Kocis, Craig Lanigan, Wayne Jeno and John Cannon (Chairman of the Board) in overseeing the Halesite Fire District.
