As a member, I am impressed with the quality of training the district provides and as a resident of Halesite, I am grateful to have the fire house at the bottom of the hill always ready to answer ambulance and fire calls.

Halesite Participates in Several Memorial Day Ceremonies

Monday, May 27, 2013

The Halesite Fire Department paid tribute to veterans over the long weekend by participating in a number of Memorial Day Ceremonies.

On Saturday, Halesite firefighters traveled to the Island Park Fire Department to march in their annual Memorial Day parade. Island Park included Halesite and other fire departments from around the United States as a gesture of thanks for supporting them during the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.

On Sunday, Halesite firefighters paid tribute to their former members by placing flags at over 70 gravesites in the area. The photo at right shows members saluting Halesite's first Chief, William Seward. Several members also joined with Huntington Manor to create a flag arch during the town's Veterans Memorial Service at Village Hall.

On Monday, members of the Halesite Fire Department joined with local veterans, firefighters and community groups in the Town of Huntington's Memorial Day Parade. After the parade, Halesite held its own ceremony back at fire headquarters followed by a family BBQ.
