The fire service can be challenging, as well as rewarding. I believe that no matter how long you are a member (and I have been a member since 1968), you can never say, "I have seen it all!" While many alarms are routine, eventually you use your training and skills to cope with a situation that you have not encountered before.

Summer Blood Drive Produces 64 Pints

Engine Company Member Tom Scheff donates blood in Halesite's annual summer blood drive.
A total of 75 people attendend Halesite Fire Department's annual blood last Friday, donating 64 pints, down slightly from 68 last year. Run jointly by the Department's Ladies Auxiliary and the Long Island Blood Service, donors who attended were treated to a free steak meal cooked by Halesite's firefighters. Donors also gave blood with a spectacular 2nd story view of Huntington Harbor. Halesite's next blood drive will take place during the winter time in January of 2015.
