On Saturday, September 20th, the Halesite Fire Department participated in this year's Huntington High School Homecoming Parade. Halesite paraded with a ladder, an engine and Fire Chief's car from St. Patrick's Church to Huntington High School via Main Street and New York Avenue.
Halesite joined Huntington Fire Department at the request of Huntington High School's Principal, Dr. Carmela Leonardi, to help make the parade more festive. The fire trucks were intermingled with floats from each Huntington High School class as well as other school district organizations including the Huntington High School Blue Devils Marching Band. The night before, Halesite joined Huntington and Huntington Manor Fire Departments in providing light during the annual float building event at Huntington High School.
Most of those involved from Halesite on Friday and Saturday were Huntington High School alumni. They included Ex-Chiefs Pete Magerle, Mike Magerle and Andy Magerle as well as Casey Magerle, Rick Oh and current Halesite Chief Dan McConnell. New Halesite member Kalrton Nurnberger, formerly of Island Park Fire Department, was also on hand as was Nina Fleisig.
