I joined to help my neighbors and that's exactly what we do. We are the people our neighbors look to in the worst situations, because they know we will always be there.

Gershow Recycling gave Halesite access to their yard and also provided two cars with which to drill on.
Members of the Halesite Fire Department drilled at Gershow Recycling on Sunday, May 31st. The drill topic was Heavy Rescue with a specific focus around vehicle stabilization.

Halesite sent 17 firefighters up to the drill site where they learned from Ex-Chief Tom Holly on different vehicle stabilization strategies and tactics. The members got to use several tools from Halesite's new Heavy Rescue Truck, 226.

Chief Dan McConnell expressed the Department's great appreciation in being able to drill at Gershow. "For years now, Halesite and other fire departments have enjoyed a strong friend in Gershow Recycling. They have allowed us to use their facility and have donated cars to drill on year after year. The public owes Gershow a debt of gratitude for their support of firefighters in Halesite and around Long Island."

In addition to vehicle stabilization, Halesite's members learned about vehicle construction and new capabilities available through Halesite's Heavy Rescue truck.
