Halesite Medivacs Boy Who Fell 15 Feet

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Photo shows Halesite rescue personnel as they return from transferring fall victim to SCPD Medivac Unit.
The Halesite Fire Department was called to assist a boy who fell 15 feet out of a tree on Sunday, November 29th. The call came in just before 2:30 PM and Halesite immediately dispatched an ambulance to the boy's home.

After evaluation of the patient by medical professionals, it was determined that the distance of the fall was so great as to require transportation to a trauma center. Suffolk County Police dispatched a Medivac helicopter to Fleets Cove Beach where the boy was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center along with one parent.

The scene was under command of Chief Dan McConnell with help from Assistant Chiefs Greg Colonna and Jamie Magerle. In addition to the ambulance, Halesite sent one engine to the landing zone as per standing operating procedure. Halesite's Heavy Rescue Apparatus was also on hand to assist.
