I joined to help my neighbors and that's exactly what we do. We are the people our neighbors look to in the worst situations, because they know we will always be there.

New Year Blood Drive 1/8/21

Thursday, December 31, 2020

The Halesite Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting the Long Island Blood Service early in the New Year as blood shortages are still at critical lows.
Please join us FRIDAY January 8th 2021 from 3:30pm - 8:00pm, to donate blood.
Both the Department and the Long Island Blood Services will be taking extra measures to ensure donor safety and health.
-All donors are asked to use the rear door for entry and exit, and must wear a mask for the duration of their time in the building. As a reminder, all donors should park in the public lot at the rear of the firehouse.
-To help maintain social distance, it is suggested that donors make an appointment in advance to allow for gathering limitations to be met, and to easily transition through the donation process. Please visit our donation appointment scheduler to reserve your time slot now (donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/276701). Walk-ins will be accommodated as best as possible while still allowing for gathering limits and social distancing.
-Our Ladies Auxiliary and the Blood Services staff will be sanitizing surfaces regularly to ensure all our guests health and safety.
All donors must be 17 years of age or older (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be feeling in good health on the day of donation. In addition to the regular travel restrictions, anyone who has spent more than 24 hrs in a COVID "self quarantine" state or who has been quarantining at home for any reason should not attempt to donate blood until you have completed the quarantine requirements set forth by New York State. You must have your photo ID on you, and be prepared to spend about 30-45 minutes in the donation process.
