Ice Storm Downs Wires in Huntington Bay

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Members of the Halesite Fire Department responded to several weather related alarms during today's ice storm including some involving downed wires. One in particular occurred on Bay Road in Huntington Bay where a tree limb
came down on a primary electric line. As noted in the picture at right, this created quite a scene as the eletricity came into contact with the wet road surface. Power outages nearby the incident were widespread. After the scene was secured by Halesite Fire
Department and Huntington Bay Police, LIPA came and began work on repairs.
